Meet Sharon Shinwell

I've been fortunate enough to own and ride horses for over 30 years, including breeding three of my own. During that time I've experienced the highs, the lows and the challenges that come with horse ownership, riding and competition.

My inspiration for creating Confident Rider came from working with nervous horse riders. I met so many people who had lost confidence after a fall, were anxious about riding, or were on the verge of giving up something they once loved. It became clear that many riders needed practical support before their confidence disappeared altogether.

​

Helping riders overcome fear and rebuild confidence has become one of the most rewarding parts of my work. Following the success of this approach, I was invited by David & Charles to co-author the highly acclaimed book Ride with Confidence, with a foreword by Kelly Marks.

I'm a UK-qualified Clinical Hypnotherapist, Counsellor, Psychotherapist, Life Coach and Clinical Supervisor with over 25 years of professional experience. Today I specialise in helping nervous horse riders and downhill skiers overcome fear, reduce anxiety and perform with greater confidence.

Although I'm now semi-retired from face-to-face therapy, I continue to help riders through my professionally produced self-hypnosis recordings, guided meditations and the Confident Rider website, making this support available to riders wherever they are.
